AdP trialling two-step bag drop system

Paris-Orly Airport automated bag drop system
Passengers travelling from Paris-Orly Airport can now check-in their bags within just 30 seconds by making use of a new automated bag drop system.

Aéroports de Paris (AdP) has designed a new automated baggage drop-off system, which allows passengers to check-in their bag in just 30 seconds.

The system, which is currently being trialled in Terminal Ouest in Paris-Orly Airport, involves a two-step process.

Firstly, passengers proceed to a self-service kiosk to print their boarding pass if they haven’t already check-in online. They then go to the automated baggage area, scan their boarding pass and deposit their bag into the system. A baggage receipt is then automatically printed.

François Rubichon, Deputy CEO, Aéroports de Paris, said: “This service, entirely designed by our teams, meets a double challenge: it offers airlines a system that enables smooth flow of the baggage drop-off step and it satisfies our passengers who have been asking to be increasingly self-reliant.”
