Qantas’ premium customers flying from London Heathrow Airport will soon be able to enjoy a new flagship lounge after the carrier announced that it will open its first dedicated lounge at the airport in early 2017.

Located in Terminal 3, the lounge will have capacity for 230 people and will feature a premium dining and bar service, shower facilities, business facilities and a children’s zone, as well as views across the airfield. Qantas says the lounge will combine its signature features with local touches “to make the design and experience distinctively London”.

Commenting on the decision to introduce the dedicated lounge at London Heathrow, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said: “The Kangaroo Route is at the heart of Qantas’ identity and London remains one of our most important destinations. We want the first dedicated Qantas lounge at Heathrow to be something special.”

Qantas will also open a new lounge at Brisbane Airport later this year, while lounges have also been opened in Singapore, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Perth airports during the last three years, as Qantas continues the rollout of its flagship lounge experience.

The new lounge at Heathrow Airport will be open to Qantas Club members, Qantas First and Business Class customers, Platinum One, Platinum and Gold members of the airline’s frequent flyer programme, and passengers travelling in tiered cabins on Qantas’ partner airlines.
