Baggage delivery service launched at Gatwick Airport

During the baggage delivery process, passengers can track their luggage in real time using their smartphone and can also receive delivery updates via SMS and email.

A little over a year after London City became the first airport to offer the AirPortr luggage delivery service, Gatwick Airport has followed suit.

The luggage transfer service allows passengers to have their bags transferred between the airport and their home, hotel or workplace in and around London and the airport.

Those arriving at Gatwick Airport can drop their bags at a dedicated AirPortr desk in South Terminal, and departing passengers can arrange to have their bags collected from an address within London and delivered to the airport for collection ahead of check-in. The service will also be available in North Terminal later this year. Passengers can book and pay in advance or on the day of travel, and they can also track their luggage in real time using their smartphone.

Toby Tait, Gatwick Airport’s Product Manager for Premium and Business Services, said: “Gatwick is always striving to make our passengers’ travel through our airport quick, convenient and hassle-free. The arrival of AirPortr now means that the convenience our passengers experience at the airport extends to their travel to and from Gatwick. Carrying heavy bags on the journey to and from the airport can now be a thing of the past for our passengers.”

Portr’s Head of Customer Experience, Chris Walsh, added: “Since launching the AirPortr experience we have overwhelmingly seen how the service literally changes the way people now plan and make their journeys. Of course, we are in the business of same day luggage delivery and ensuring your bags travel when and where you want them, but really AirPortr is all about the time and convenience aspect of the service that we in reality aspire to deliver.”
