Applying F1™ Thinking to Aviation. Lessons learned from racing.

Jim Newton
Director
McLaren Applied Technologies
Martin Bowman
Aviation Technology Director
Deloitte

Formula 1™ racing is one of the most dynamic and high-performance sports in the world. Historically, it relied on the skills of its drivers and the engineering of its cars to bring about success. However, over the last 20 years McLaren Applied Technologies has developed world-leading real-time analytics, personalised design and performance management systems, to deliver competitive advantage.

McLaren and Deloitte have joined forces to bring together the deep industry understanding and delivery capabilities of a market-leading global consultancy with the experience of applying new technologies from a world class engineering and advanced technology business. In this session, McLaren and Deloitte will explore how predictive analytics, sensor technologies and IOT, blended with Formula 1™ thinking, are being applied by leading airlines, airports and other industry stakeholders, to improve aircraft turnaround, OTP and on-the-day operations.

Co-creation & Workshop Sessions

We want FTE to be an industry change catalyst and we are making more efforts to facilitate actual industry collaboration and co-creation between stakeholders at the show, as opposed to just discussing the need for it, which is why we run our co-creation sessions. The session will provide a platform for various stakeholders to discuss how they can collaborate in key areas to enhance the end-to-end passenger experience. Delegates will be able to choose which topic they would like to discuss and then join the relevant table to exchange thoughts, ideas, frustrations and potential ways forward.

There will be working groups in different working zones, each with their own captain who will brief and help guide the working groups with their discussions on each table. At the start of the session, each delegate will join one of the working groups. They will then play an important role in forming ideas, concepts and conclusions within that sub-group, which will be shared with their fellow delegates through the post-event website.

Following their earlier presentation, Geneva Airport will lead an interactive workshop.
