DTI’s eReader integrates into flydubai’s aircraft’s touch screen passenger consoles

DTI’s eReader will integrate seamlessly into flydubai’s aircraft’s touch screen passenger consoles, much in the same way an app functions on a smartphone or tablet.

flydubai has linked up with in-flight solutions specialist DTI Solutions to offer passengers daily updated digital newspapers. The airline’s touch-screen entertainment systems will now be equipped with eReaders, which will have access to more than 45 newspapers from around the world.

NewspaperDirect has reworked its popular PressReader app (previously only available for smartphones and tablets) for flydubai’s inflight entertainment consoles.

flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith explained: “Daily news consumption trends have shifted since the introduction of smartphones and personal electronic devices, and passengers now expect to be able to read their favourite newspapers electronically onboard. Offering daily newspaper updates digitally is a real logistical challenge for airlines, and flydubai is proud to be the first to provide this enhanced passenger experience.”

Patrick Préfontaine, President of DTI Solutions, added: “We’re delighted to have helped flydubai achieve this historic project. We truly believe that eReader solutions are strategic for airlines to provide passengers with relevant and engaging content, while benefiting from the noted advantages of digital content such as weight and cost reductions compared to paper-based media onboard.”
