DFW deploys “transformational new solutions in security screening” for airport workforce

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is deploying 12 Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) QPS Walk2000 walk-through scanners to optimise and streamline security and support high-volume screening at its employee checkpoints.

The scanners will screen aviation workers, entering the secure areas of the airport, for metallic and non-metallic threats, weapons and contraband.

“The R&S QPS Walk2000 is one of the most transformational new solutions in security screening and we are thrilled to work with DFW to optimise the system for screening the airport’s thousands of employees,” said Luke Olsen, Business Development Manager for Emerging Technologies, Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. “The system’s proven millimetre wave technology delivers the precision and high-volume screening needed by DFW and U.S. airports to implement efficient and cost-effective employee screening and streamlines security screening by eliminating required removal of most coats and outerwear.”

The R&S QPS Walk2000 was developed specifically to support high-volume security screening in a wide range of operations requiring rapid and accurate screening for metallic and non-metallic threats, contraband, explosives, drugs, 3D printed weapons, ceramic blades and other prohibited items. The system’s detection software has been optimised for aviation worker screening and eliminates required removal of employee badges, nametags, outerwear and belts supporting efficient aviation worker screening, especially during shift changes.
