Summary:

  • Virgin Atlantic becomes the first airline to launch an app within ChatGPT, allowing customers to search for flights using everyday language.
  • The AI-powered app provides tailored flight options instantly, simplifying the booking process from search to purchase.
  • This launch builds on Virgin Atlantic’s ongoing digital innovations, including the Virgin Atlantic Concierge and new mobile app.

Virgin Atlantic has become the first airline in the world to launch an app within ChatGPT, opening up a new way for customers to discover and plan their next trip simply by asking.

Building on Virgin Atlantic’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Concierge, the Virgin Atlantic app in ChatGPT allows customers to search for flights using everyday language. Customers can ask for exactly what they want, from “flights to the Caribbean in February” to “show me flights in Premium to Los Angeles next month”, with tailored options surfaced instantly. ChatGPT then presents these in a clear, easy-to-read summary, making it simple to compare and choose.

Once a flight is selected, customers are seamlessly directed to Virgin Atlantic’s website or mobile app to complete their booking, creating a smooth journey from inspiration through to purchase.

The launch builds on the airline’s recent digital innovations, including the rollout of Virgin Atlantic Concierge and the introduction of its new mobile app, giving customers more ways to plan and manage their trips.

“We’re proud to be the first airline in the world to launch an app in ChatGPT, as we continue to focus on meeting our customers where they are and making it easier than ever to connect with us,” said Juha Jaervinen, Chief Customer Officer, Virgin Atlantic. “Whether you know exactly where you want to go or you’re just looking for inspiration, this experience is designed to make planning and booking your next trip simple and seamless. You can simply ask, and we’ll do the rest, showing the best options quickly. By combining the power of AI with the personality and care we’re known for, we’re creating experiences that feel more personal, more intuitive and unmistakably Virgin Atlantic.”

This latest launch marks another step in Virgin Atlantic’s ambition to create brilliantly different experiences, blending technology with human warmth to redefine premium travel in the digital age.
