The travel industry is facing many challenges post-pandemic. While recovering from the Covid-19 crisis and rebuilding passenger volumes, the biggest challenge will be restoring the consumer experience with sustainable solutions for packaging, waste management, and food safety.
Whilst passengers are more eco-conscious post-pandemic, and expect a response to climate change, the travel industry has reconfirmed its commitment to cutting CO2 emissions in half by 2050 and responsible waste managing.
From a global perspective, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) has a specific target to cut global food waste in half by 2030 which is a fantastic opportunity to stand out as an industry.
Increasingly more travel companies (Air, Rail, Sea) are looking for hybrid service models where “Buy On Board”, “Pre-order”, and “Complimentary Service” models are being used for multiple routes. This ”on-demand” consumption model requires a different approach; Foodcase strives to be the leader in knowledgeable and expertise in the market in addition to our products, concepts, development skills, and accessibility to the ecosystem of the worlds foremost Food Science University Wageningen UR.
