FTE Global Opening Keynote Session – Vantage Group Chair & CEO George Casey, and OUTCOME Co-founder Dan Toma

The Opening Keynote Session at FTE Global 2025 featured powerful presentations from two visionary leaders: George Casey, Chair & CEO of Vantage Group, and Dan Toma, Co-founder of OUTCOME.

Vantage Group is a global leader in investment, development, management, and advisory services for major airport and transportation infrastructure. George Casey highlighted how Vantage is driving innovation and fostering collaboration between airport operators, airline tenants, and stakeholder partners to transform facilities, tackle industry challenges, enhance the passenger experience, and boost both operational efficiency and commercial performance – citing examples such as the upcoming T6 at JFK, set to open early next year.

FTE Global is also known for featuring influential voices from outside the aviation sector, and this year’s innovation keynote delivered just that. Dan Toma delivered a thought-provoking session titled ‘From “Moonshots” to a “Space Program” in Enterprise Innovation: Making Growth Repeatable and Scalable’. He explored how organisations can move beyond one-off innovation efforts to build systems that consistently generate and scale bold ideas – creating sustainable, measurable growth.

The FTE Energy & Sustainability Symposium

Day 2 of the Future Trends & Customer Journeys agenda at FTE Global 2025 began with the highly anticipated FTE Energy & Sustainability Symposium – a forward-looking session that explored how the aviation industry must evolve to meet the critical energy, data, and sustainability demands of the future.

As airports and airlines face increasing pressure to decarbonise and future-proof their infrastructure, the symposium looked beyond traditional models to examine innovative strategies for powering the next generation of air travel. The discussion focused on how to prepare for the exponential increases in energy consumption and data processing needs – driven by electrification, automation, AI, and sustainable aviation fuels – and what it will take to design, fund, and build resilient systems that can meet those challenges.

Moderated by Geoffrey Ax, Principal and Aviation Market Leader at Populous, the session brought together a powerhouse panel of cross-sector experts:

  • John Kasuda, Head of Airports and Vertiports North America, Siemens, offered insights on how smart, sustainable infrastructure can support future-ready airports.
  • Sanskar Agrawal, Industry Business Development, Smart Spaces & Global Public Sector, NVIDIA, explored the role of AI, digital twins, and real-time data processing in building intelligent, energy-efficient airport environments.
  • Tim Donovan, Founder & CEO, Donovan Energy, shared practical perspectives on how airports can transition to clean energy solutions at scale.
  • Brian Cobb, Chief Innovation Officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), brought an operator’s viewpoint on implementing sustainable practices without compromising performance or passenger experience.

Together, the panel delivered a rich and practical conversation on the bold steps required to ensure airports and airlines are not only ready for what’s next – but leading the charge toward a more sustainable aviation future.

The FTE Data Sharing Symposium

One of the standout sessions at FTE Global 2025 was the FTE Data Sharing Symposium – a pivotal discussion that tackled one of the industry’s most pressing and complex challenges: how to break down data silos and enable smarter, more seamless collaboration between stakeholders across the air transport ecosystem.

This session showcased the early outcomes and forward-thinking recommendations emerging from the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub community, where leading airlines and airports have been collaborating on how best to leverage data sharing to unlock new efficiencies, improve decision-making, and enhance the passenger journey.

Moderated by Samuel Ingalls, Principal at Barich, Inc., the panel brought together experienced digital transformation leaders from across the aviation sector:

  • Christian George Kessler, Airports Transformation & Innovation Manager, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, shared perspectives on how data integration is shaping next-gen airport operations.
  • Keith Walters, Group Transformation Manager, International Airlines Group (IAG), offered insights into the opportunities and challenges of data sharing across a global airline group.
  • Nicole Hodges-Austin, Innovation Program Manager, Alaska Airlines, spoke to the cultural and operational shifts required to build trust and transparency between stakeholders.
  • Gudmundur Karl Gautason, Director of Digital Development, Isavia, contributed a valuable perspective on driving data innovation within a national airport operator.

Together, the panellists explored practical use cases, governance frameworks, and emerging technologies that can help make real-time, secure, and effective data sharing a reality – ultimately enabling a more connected and responsive air travel ecosystem.
