Iberia launches real-time updating boarding pass to enhance CX and optimise operations

Iberia has introduced a dynamic boarding pass. This innovative digital solution transforms the boarding experience by offering a boarding pass capable of automatically updating in response to last-minute changes.

Iberia – a member of International Airlines Group (a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub) – has introduced a dynamic boarding pass. This innovative digital solution aims to transform the boarding experience by offering passengers a boarding pass capable of automatically updating in response to any last-minute operational changes.

Currently, travellers who obtain their boarding pass at the counter or through the app receive a static version that does not reflect any changes. Thanks to this enhancement, the boarding pass updates automatically in case of seat changes, gate changes, or cabin upgrades, among others. Customers also receive a push notification on their mobile device with the updated information, avoiding unnecessary movements.

In addition to mobile notifications, Iberia will continue to send updates via email.

This feature is available to users of the Iberia app (iOS and Android) and to those who download their boarding pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet from the website.

With this initiative, Iberia aims to not only enhance the customer experience, but also optimise operational times during boarding.

This improvement is an example of Iberia’s commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement in customer service. Other examples of innovative projects launched by the airline include ‘Iberia GPT’, a new conversational assistant in ChatGPT that helps customers plan their trips in an inspiring, agile, and personalised way (read our full report on the launch of Iberia GPT here). Plus, Iberia has launched Háblalo x Iberia – an app that improves the travel experience for people with communication difficulties.

Additionally, Iberia has been one of the first airlines to partner with Apple to integrate AirTag information into its operations, allowing customers to share the location of their luggage, thereby improving efficiency and the overall experience.
