Cebu Pacific trials wireless in-flight entertainment system

Cebu Pacific - SKYfi club wireless IFE system
Cebu Pacific Air has partnered with KID-Systeme GmbH to trial the SKYfi club wireless IFE system on five of its aircraft.

Philippines-based Cebu Pacific Air has started a trial of the SKYfi club wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) system alongside KID-Systeme.

The wireless IFE platform has been introduced to complement the carrier’s existing onboard connectivity service and enables passengers to access content via their own personal electronic devices.

A total of five aircraft have been equipped with the SKYfi club product for the trial, and passengers will be able to stream music and movies, and view magazines and surveys using their own smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Cebu Pacific’s decision to trial wireless IFE follows a move by the Southeast Asian country’s other major carrier, Philippine Airlines, to offer OnAir’s wireless IFE solution, which includes Global Eagle Entertainment’s WISE (Wireless Inflight Services and Entertainment) software, across its A330s instead of embedded IFE.
