Alaska Airlines announces partnership with CELITECH at FTE EMEA – becoming first North American airline to offer eSIM technology

Gus Naughton, Senior Software Engineer, Emerging Technologies, Alaska Airlines, and Lauren Koenig, CMO of CELITECH, announced the partnership during FTE EMEA in Dublin on 11-13 June 2024.

Alaska Airlines has become the first airline in North America to integrate eSIM technology into its booking platform through a new partnership with CELITECH, the only eSIM creator made and hosted in the USA. This collaboration enables travelers to purchase an eSIM directly when booking their trips on alaskaair.com, enhancing their connectivity and travel experience.

CELITECH, a four-time winner of the “Overall Wireless Broadband Solution of the Year” by Mobile Breakthrough, offers affordable and secure cellular data services worldwide. Hosting its platform domestically, CELITECH ensures high security for its users. Now integrated into Alaska Airlines’ booking platform, CELITECH’s eSIM solution provides international travelers with premium LTE/5G connectivity in over 215 countries and regions.

“We’re constantly thinking about ways we can improve the guest journey from booking to landing,” said Courtney Lansing, Managing Director of Business Development and Products at Alaska Airlines. “Offering convenience is one way we show care for our guests. Finding an affordable option for them to communicate with friends and family as soon as they land is just another way we’re caring for guests in new ways.”

CELITECH’s innovative “one-click add-on” feature significantly boosts eSIM conversions for travel partners. The partnership, conceived at the Future Travel Experience (FTE) EMEA Conference and Exhibition in Dublin, Ireland, demonstrates both companies’ dedication to enhancing the travel experience.

Lauren Koenig, CMO of CELITECH, commented: “Alaska Airlines understands the connected traveler and the importance of partnering with an eSIM platform that prioritizes security and offers premium, unthrottled data services. Working with the Alaska team this past year has been a delight and the future of our partnership is bright.”

The partnership launch was announced at FTE EMEA in Dublin, where the collaboration was first conceived. Al Fares, CEO and Head of Product at CELITECH, praised Alaska Airlines for their swift and creative integration of CELITECH’s robust API. “Alaska Airlines is quickly integrating our API and being extremely creative in offering travelers an eSIM through pre-departure emails, confirmation pages, booking processes, and soon, loyalty programs. When you work with an innovative airline, it’s evident not only from the ideas they generate but also from their swift implementation,” Fares said.

Corrie Thompson, Commercial Director of FTE, added: “We are thrilled to witness this remarkable partnership come to life at this year’s event, a direct outcome of our exhibition last year. This achievement underscores why we dedicate ourselves to hosting this annual event.”

International travellers can now book a premium eSIM on alaskaair.com, making travel more convenient and connected than ever before.
