How iProov’s biometric solutions for trusted identity assurance are reshaping the passenger journey

In the air transport ecosystem, iProov’s technology is reshaping the passenger journey. Its most prominent work is in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where it is helping to redefine the international arrivals process.

iProov – a Gold Sponsor of FTE Global, the “CES of Aviation” taking place in Long Beach, California, on 9 to 11 September 2025 – provides biometric solutions for trusted identity assurance. In this interview, Dominic Forrest, Chief Technology Officer, shares how iProov enables the world’s most security-conscious organisations to streamline secure digital and physical access.

In the air transport ecosystem, iProov’s technology is reshaping the passenger journey. Its most prominent work is in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where it is helping to redefine the international arrivals process. “Through initiatives like Enhanced Passenger Processing at Orlando International Airport and the Seamless Border Entry (SBE) program for Global Entry members – which is already operational at eight major international hubs including Miami (MIA), Los Angeles (LAX) and Houston (IAH) – our ‘on-the-move’ technology allows travellers to be verified simply by moving past a camera,” Forrest explains. “The system is so fast that by the time a traveller reaches the desk, their identity has already been confirmed, allowing the officer to simply welcome them into the country.”

This creates an entirely new throughput model. iProov’s system can process over 12 people per minute through a single checkpoint – a dramatic increase compared to e-gates that take 30-40 seconds per person or the traditional interview method with a border officer, which takes even longer. “The incredible efficiency of this new system reduces queues and mitigates the risk of missed connections, which allows border officers to optimise the processing of low-risk individuals and dedicate more resources to travellers who may require closer attention,” says Forrest. “All of this is delivered with an unwavering commitment to privacy; we never access passenger imagery, as it is encrypted and sent directly to CBP’s systems. What’s even more exciting is the potential for this system to be applied to many other parts of the airport ecosystem, including exits, check-in, baggage drop, and more.”

iProov’s most significant recent news is the live deployment of its Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP) solution at Orlando International Airport (MCO), which is owned and managed by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA). “This is part of a new phase of adoption taking root across major U.S. airports, moving from stop-and-scan kiosks to walkthrough, on-the-move screening,” Forrest explains. “This successful rollout is a powerful demonstration that this technology is no longer emerging – it’s operational infrastructure that is transforming the airport experience today.”

FTE Global: “The definitive platform where the future of travel is shaped”

At FTE Global, Forrest is participating in a conference session on ‘Advancing Digital Identity & Seamless Travel Efforts’. The panel is focused on sharing dynamic approaches to digital identity, building compelling business cases, and finding ways to swiftly scale these technologies. “Our contribution will ground these themes in proven, real-world applications,” Forrest shares. “I’ll address key industry questions around accuracy and performance, explaining how modern facial biometric systems can meet the exceptionally high standards required for secure border control operations.”

Dominic Forrest, Chief Technology Officer, iProov: “FTE Global is the definitive platform where the future of travel is shaped. Our goal as a Gold Sponsor is to showcase how proven biometric technology makes a truly secure and seamless travel experience a reality today.”

Speaking to the theme of building compelling business cases, Forrest will also discuss the importance of investing in long-term, scalable platforms over one-off product installations, offering insights on how to ensure a sustainable and future-proof approach to passenger processing.

“FTE Global is the definitive platform where the future of travel is shaped,” says Forrest. “Our goal as a Gold Sponsor is to showcase how proven biometric technology makes a truly secure and seamless travel experience a reality today. This is especially critical as the U.S. prepares for its ‘mega-decade’ of international events, and we are here to collaborate with industry leaders to solve the immense challenge of increasing passenger volumes without compromising security.”

iProov is also exhibiting at FTE Global, where visitors will experience a first-hand look at its fast, secure, and efficient on-the-move biometric technology. “We’re excited to demonstrate not just the seamless passenger experience, but also the underlying innovations that make it possible,” Forrest shares. “Attendees can learn about our hardware-light approach, which uses powerful, commercially available commodity hardware for easy maintenance and scalability. This means airports don’t have to lock into costly, proprietary ecosystems.”

The best way to engage with the iProov team is to visit booth F38 for a live demonstration and a conversation about these topics. “We believe we’re at a tipping point for U.S. airports, and we want to discuss how we can build the future of travel together,” Forrest adds. “The transformation we’re seeing is so significant that it’s fundamentally changing the perception of border crossing, making it a positive and even enjoyable experience. What we value most about FTE Global is the spirit of collaboration. For airport leaders evaluating these systems, this is the perfect venue to ask the critical questions around performance, efficiency and security, and inclusivity.”
