Malaysia Airlines has signed a new partnership with Amadeus – a Gold Sponsor of FTE Global – the “CES of Aviation” taking place in Long Beach, California, on 9 to 11 September 2025 – which sees the airline deploy Amadeus Travel Ready. The solution digitalises and verifies travel documents, such as passports, visas and health documents, at every stage of the journey, boosting efficiency and reducing friction.
“Traditionally, travellers have to present the same identity documents repeatedly – at check-in, baggage drop, security, and boarding – creating manual checks and long queues,” said Clarence Lee Chin Ken, Group Chief Digital Officer, Malaysia Aviation Group. “Malaysia Airlines is taking a step forward by digitalising identity verification for our customers with Amadeus Travel Ready. By enabling our passengers to upload and verify their travel documents ahead of time during the online check-in process, the feature reduces congestion at airports and enables a more seamless flow through each stage of the journey. More importantly, we are laying the foundation for a fully biometric, seamless journey in the future.”
Malaysia Airlines is the first airline in south-east Asia to deploy Amadeus Travel Ready. The carrier has integrated digital verification into its online and mobile check-in process, reducing pressure at airport check-in counters and allowing passengers to arrive travel ready for flights. The solution allows travellers to verify the compliance of certain documents before heading to the airport.
“Malaysia Airlines is a strategic partner for Amadeus, an innovative carrier with a dedication to using technology to build an improved passenger experience,” said Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Amadeus. “As a first mover in the region with Amadeus Travel Ready, Malaysia Airlines will benefit from advanced biometric enrolment capabilities, ensuring a seamless and secure travel experience for its customers. This partnership is just one example of how Amadeus can support the travel industry with innovative, traveller-centric initiatives that enhance passenger convenience and security.”
Amadeus Travel Ready is aligned with the IATA One ID initiative, which aims to further streamline the passenger journey by promoting advanced sharing of information, contactless technologies, and biometric options.
