These achievements highlight the transformative impact we’re making and the real value we bring to customers.”

The theme of this year’s APEX FTE Asia Expo is ‘Accelerating Innovation’ and NEC is accelerating innovation by leveraging AI, video analytics, and biometric authentication to enable more efficient airport operations and optimise passenger flow. “We see significant potential for transformation in areas such as contactless travel, predictive analytics for operations, and integrated identity management,” says Nomura. “Our solutions are designed to help airports and airlines adapt quickly to evolving passenger expectations and operational demands.”

NEC has more than 30 years of global experience in biometrics and digital identity, providing solutions for airport operations and government agencies worldwide, including services for National ID, law enforcement, immigration, and customs. “We are confident in our ability to deploy end-to-end, next-generation digital identity solutions that ensure interoperability across diverse stakeholders, utilising decentralised ID and verifiable credentials technology,” Nomura explains. “In October 2024, NEC successfully conducted a live demonstration with real passengers, connecting two airports using DID/VC technology as part of IATA’s End-to-End Digital Identity Proof of Concept.”
