The new Singapore Airlines Premium Economy product is the result of an $80 million investment by the carrier and will be introduced from August 2015.

Singapore Airlines has released details of what travellers can expect from the new Premium Economy class, which will enter service in August and be progressively introduced on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 of the carrier’s new Airbus A350s.

The Premium Economy seats will vary in width, with the A380 offering 19.5 inches and the 777-300ERs and A350s offering 18.5 inches. Each seat will be pitched at 38 inches with an eight-inch recline. Other key features include a 13.3-inch full HD monitor, noise cancelling headphones, individual in-seat power supplies and USB ports, a cocktail table, a calf rest and foot-bar, as well as additional stowage space for personal items.

Premium Economy customers will also be able to make use of the ‘Book the Cook’ service which allows them to pre-order their meals before travelling, as well as Champagne and curated wines, and a collector’s edition amenity kit.

Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial Mak Swee Wah said: “Many of our customers have been asking for a Premium Economy offering and we are confident that what we are delivering will exceed their expectations. The new cabin product is the culmination of two years of work, which included extensive research and focus group studies involving customers and our design partners.”

Singapore Airlines’ new Premium Economy product also includes a number of on the ground benefits, including priority check-in and baggage handling, a 35kg baggage allowance, and 10% more miles for members of the KrisFlyer frequent flyer programme.
