Budapest Airport, part of the network of VINCI Airports (a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub) has announced the latest developments in its food and beverage (F&B) services, reflecting its ongoing commitment to quality, variety, and traveller comfort. In collaboration with its longstanding partner SSP Hungary, a series of openings and upgrades have transformed the culinary landscape of Terminal 2.
This summer season welcomed the launch of a brand-new Food Market on the gallery level of Terminal 2âs SkyCourt. Designed with the ambition of bringing the local Hungarian sense of place, the dynamic space incorporates famous Hungarian flower motifs and invites passengers to explore a range of international and local cuisines. From freshly baked baguettes at Upper Crust, modern Asian flavours at Dao Dao, and classic Italian dishes at Levito, to authentic Hungarian meals at Paprika, and smoothies and chimney cake at Zest & Twist, the Food Market delivers fast, flavourful dining in a comfortable setting. Some units, including Upper Crust, now operate 24/7 to serve travellers at all hours.
Another major highlight is the first Starbucks at Budapest Airport, also located at the SkyCourt gallery level. With its globally recognised coffee experience, Starbucks offers handcrafted beverages, seasonal refreshments, sandwiches, and pastries â all in a bright, spacious area with views of the runway and terminal activity.
Over the past year, SSP has also introduced SOHO, a contemporary cafĂ© serving modern international cuisine, and Bottega â The Italian Prosecco Bar, offering the first truly authentic Italian experience in the T2A Schengen zone, highlighting Italian cafĂ© culture, prosecco, and a stylish breakfast and brunch experience. Earlier this year, the Panopolis outlet on the T2B landside was also fully renewed, now serving a refreshed selection of quick sandwiches, pastries, and coffee for both arriving and departing guests.
These additions expand SSP Hungaryâs diverse F&B portfolio across Terminal 2, which includes the well-known Burger King, alongside specialised concepts such as FLOCAFĂ, OâLearys, Soul & Grain, Burger King, TASHBA, and The Terrace, along with two food trucks at Pier 1, Upper Crust in the non-Schengen zone, and several self-service kiosks and grab-and-go concepts such as NEO, and Food for Flight.
âOur ambition is to offer a rich culinary journey to travellers, featuring both international favourites and iconic Hungarian dishes â giving customers one last chance to taste the local flavours before departure,â said Markus Klaushofer, CCO, Budapest Airport. âWe are thinking beyond just food variety. With vegan, vegetarian, lactose- and gluten-free options, digital self-service kiosks, and comfortable seating areas with charging points, we aim to create a seamless and inclusive experience. Great food, smart design, and a strong local identity â these are at the heart of the transformation.â
Budapest Airportâs Terminal 2 now offers around 9,000sqm of retail space, of which nearly 4,500sqm is dedicated to food and beverage. These developments are part of a broader strategy to position the airport as a gateway not only to Hungary but to a world-class travel experience.
