Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – has opened five new dining concepts, providing travellers with more food and drink options. The new concepts, operated by SSP America, are designed to enhance the traveller experience while reflecting the tastes and personality of the Pittsburgh region.
The expansion – marking the debut of SSP America’s food & beverage operations at PIT – brings an eclectic mix of local flavours and national favourites to the airport’s growing culinary scene.
“SSP America is strong in both local and national brands, said Bryan Dietz, Senior Vice President, Air Service and Commercial Development at PIT. “It’s not generic, it’s not cookie-cutter. It’s something that we’ve partnered with SSP to create a unique, memorable experience for our travellers.”
SSP America Chief Development Officer Paul Loupakos said: “We believe airports should feel connected to the places they serve. They’re often the first impression of a city, the last memory travellers take with them.”
Since late 2024, the airport has opened 20 new food and retail concessions. The revamped concession offerings are part of the airport’s continued commitment to enhancing the passenger experience with high-quality food, retail, and amenities. The new concessions also reflect passenger feedback who wanted a variety of respected national brands as well as local favourites.
The new offerings are available airside and include:
- Convive Coffee Roastery: Founded in Pittsburgh, Convive Coffee is a locally rooted brand known for its thoughtfully sourced, small-batch-roasted coffee and its warm, community-driven approach. Convive Coffee offers travellers a welcoming space to enjoy handcrafted beverages that reflect Pittsburgh’s hospitality spirit.
- Shake Shack: The national brand Shake Shack brings its line-up to PIT, including made-to-order burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and hand-spun shakes. Known for its premium ingredients and broad traveller appeal, Shake Shack offers a familiar dining option for passengers on the go.
- Stack & Press: Stack & Press is an SSP America boutique brand offering deli-inspired favourites. Featuring freshly made sandwiches and pressed selections, the concept delivers comfort-driven flavours with the speed and efficiency required in the airport environment.
- Mi Casa Cantina: Mi Casa delivers vibrant Mexican flavours in a casual, approachable setting. Designed to offer bold taste and flexibility, the concept combines familiar favourites with fresh ingredients, making it an ideal option for travellers seeking a satisfying sit-down or quick-service meal.
- Bad Egg Breakfast Bar: The Bad Egg Breakfast Bar reimagines classics with playful, indulgent twists, serving elevated morning dishes throughout the day. Designed to energise travellers at any hour, the concept blends comfort, creativity, and convenience.
