Air France partnering with Starlink to offer complimentary high-speed WiFi onboard all flights

Air France, in partnership with Starlink, is to offer complimentary high-speed WiFi onboard all flights. The airline plans to offer the service on 30% of its fleet by end-2025 and throughout its fleet by end-2026.

Announced in autumn 2024, Air France’s pioneering inflight WiFi service is now operational. The airline is set to equip the fifth aircraft in its fleet with high-speed WiFi, allowing passengers to enjoy a free, quality internet connection that is stable, fast, and secure. With this innovation, Air France is the first major European airline to offer such a service onboard. It plans to offer this service on 30% of its fleet by the end of the year and throughout its fleet by the end of 2026.

Representing a major step in the airline’s move upmarket, Air France is progressively rolling out this offer across the entire fleet, including, for the first time, its regional aircraft.

During the flight, customers onboard equipped aircraft can easily stay in touch with loved ones, follow global news in real-time, stream TV, films and series, and even play multiplayer video games. This new service can be accessed via smartphones, tablets and laptops, and supports connecting multiple devices simultaneously.

Customers can access the service by logging in to their Flying Blue account, the Air France-KLM Group’s frequent flyer programme. Those without a Flying Blue account can create an account directly onboard for free in just a few clicks.

Air France will offer high-speed wifi on board 30% of its fleet by the end of the year and throughout its fleet by the end of 2026. During this transitional period, the company will continue to offer an inflight internet connection onboard aircraft not yet equipped with high-speed WiFi – a free ‘messaging’ pass for Flying Blue members and a paid option for other uses.

To provide this service, Air France has partnered with Starlink, which offers high-speed, low-latency internet, powered by a vast network of satellites in low-Earth orbit to provide reliable inflight connectivity.
