The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and Midway Partnership have celebrated the opening of Gameway, a new video gaming lounge, at Midway International Airport.
“I’m proud to welcome Gameway to Midway as a new place for travellers to relax, unwind and get in some game time while waiting for their flights,” said CDA Commissioner Michael McMurray. “We’re always looking for new and innovative amenities to enhance the travel experience for Chicagoans and visitors from all over the world.”
Gameway is equipped with high-end gaming stations, comfortable seating, premium gaming headphones, high-speed internet and a selection of the latest console video games. Players can reserve a sanitised station with a gaming PC or an Xbox or PlayStation console. The lounge also offers a wide variety of beverages, from soft drinks and cold refreshments to coffee-based drinks and beer.
“On behalf of Midway Partnership, I am delighted to welcome Gameway to the concession line-up at Chicago Midway International Airport,” said Midway Partnership General Manager Shawnta Young. “The fun atmosphere and immersive experience offered at Gameway is a fantastic addition to the diverse mix of shopping, dining, and amenities available at Chicago’s neighbourhood airport. Our focus continues to be on delivering a convenient and enjoyable experience that offers something for every traveller. With today’s grand opening, Gameway joins more than 70 unique brands and experiences now available at Midway.”
Jordan and Emma Walbridge, Co-founders, Gameway, commented: “Gameway was created to do one thing: make airports entertaining! We are excited to give MDW travellers a place to have fun, recharge, and connect before they board their flight. Midway’s energy is a perfect match for what we do, and we can’t wait to welcome Chicago’s travellers.”
Since 2017, Midway Partnership, a joint venture that includes Vantage Group, SSP America, and Hudson by Avolta, has invested over $75 million and expanded the total concessions area by approximately 30,000 square feet.
