airBaltic enhances inflight experience with Skynet – a Starlink-powered digital platform

airBaltic has launched Skynet, a Starlink-powered digital platform that brings real-time flight information, onboard services, shopping and personalised offers to passengers’ devices, enhancing the inflight experience.

Summary:

  • airBaltic launches Skynet digital platform powered by Starlink connectivity.
  • Portal offers real-time flight info, onboard services, shopping and destination content.
  • Supports personalised experience, loyalty integration and future in-seat ordering.

airBaltic is enhancing its onboard experience with the introduction of Skynet, an innovative digital platform available to all travellers on their personal devices throughout their flight. Powered by airBaltic’s Starlink internet connectivity, Skynet brings key inflight services and information together in a single digital portal. Designed to enhance inflight customer experience, it provides passengers with fast, personalised access to flight details, destination information and exclusive onboard offers across a range of services and shopping.

The portal is free to use once passengers connect to the Starlink internet and requires no downloads or registration. Available in Latvian, English, Estonian, and Lithuanian, Skynet highlights the airline’s move toward a seamless digital service experience.

“Skynet marks an important step in how we are redefining the onboard digital journey,” said airBaltic Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Alexander Ramdahl. “By bringing services, real-time flight information and carefully selected partner offers into one seamless platform powered by Starlink, we are making the travel experience more convenient, entertaining and personalised for our passengers, especially to our airBaltic Club loyalty members. We will continue enhancing the platform by introducing more tailored onboard offers, including convenient in-seat ordering and payment options directly from our menu.”

During the flight, by selecting Starlink internet, passengers will be able to automatically access the Skynet portal by scanning a QR code in the Baltic Outlook inflight magazine or by using the airBaltic Club app. Once connected, passengers can track their flight in real time, with all key journey details available in one place, including the flight number, duration, departure and arrival times, connecting flights at RIX Riga Airport, and live updates.

In addition, travellers can browse the digital airCafe menu directly on their device, read the airBaltic blog, or plan their trip ahead by exploring local attractions at their destination. Accommodation, car rental, and attractions are offered through airBaltic partners.

Travellers can also shop from thousands of their favourite brands via the AirMall platform, a personalised retail solution powered by InterLnkd. All partner services and eligible purchases made through Skynet allow customers to earn points within the airBaltic Club loyalty programme.

Currently, more than half of airBaltic’s Airbus A220-300 fleet is equipped with Starlink. The launch of Skynet forms part of the airline’s wider strategy to expand onboard connectivity and digital services.
