“The new check-in hall features self-service technology, enabling passengers to complete key steps of the check-in process, including printing baggage tags and placing luggage onto the automated bag drop system,” said Chris Mills, CEO, Sunshine Coast Airport. “With the new technology, the check-in and bag drop process is faster than ever, helping passengers move through the airport more easily. We want every part of the passenger journey at Sunshine Coast Airport to be streamlined, and technology has an important role to play in achieving that. It’s not just the technology that stands out. The new check-in hall has been designed to create a more modern and welcoming experience. This is a critical step in the upgrade and expansion of the entire airport building.”

Sunshine Coast Airport General Manager, Operations Kate McCreery-Carr commented: “Technology is making travel simpler and more efficient. At Sunshine Coast Airport, passengers can use any of our automated bag drops and check-in kiosks, no matter which airline they’re flying with, helping to speed up check-in and create a smoother journey through the airport. Passengers can take greater control of the check-in and bag drop process, while our airline teams can step in and provide assistance whenever it’s required. It’s about making the journey effortless and enjoyable for our passengers through greater choice. By integrating the latest check-in and bag drop technology into our brand new terminal, we’re creating a more streamlined environment that makes it easier for passengers to navigate the process from check-in through to departure.”

Elenium Automation CEO Aaron Hornlimann added: “We’re seeing airports look at new ways to use technology to make the passenger journey simpler, faster and more connected. What we’ve introduced here at Sunshine Coast Airport is part of that broader evolution in how people move through airports.
