Summary:

  • Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has selected daa International to develop, lease and operate a new 37,000-square-foot VIP passenger terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport, the first facility of its kind in the National Capital Region.
  • The dedicated terminal will offer passengers flying on any commercial airline a premium airport experience, including private security screening, personalised check-in, dedicated lounges, baggage handling and private vehicle transfers directly to the aircraft.
  • daa International will develop the facility over 30 months before operating it under an initial 20-year agreement, supporting Dulles’ strategy to expand its premium passenger services and respond to growing demand for personalised travel experiences.

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – has selected daa International to develop, lease and operate a dedicated VIP passenger terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport. The facility will be the first of its kind for any airport in the National Capital Region.

The 37,000-square-foot VIP terminal will be constructed near the airport’s cargo buildings on a 1.2-acre site. Separate from a private jet facility, the VIP terminal will offer passengers flying on any commercial airline an additional premium option to board or disembark at Washington Dulles.

Elevated services will include:

  • Dedicated VIP parking and entrance, separate from main terminal
  • Private security screening for domestic and international travellers
  • Suites, lounges and amenities separate from other airport concourses
  • Personalised check-in, baggage handling services and premium vehicle transport directly to the gate and aircraft

“Adding a VIP terminal at Dulles International reflects our commitment to giving passengers the options to choose an airport experience that fits their needs,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Chryssa Westerlund. “By introducing this premium service, Dulles is responding to traveller demand, supporting continued growth and joining other leading international airports around the world that offer elevated services for business and leisure travellers alike.”

daa International will develop the VIP terminal over a 30-month period and, once open, operate and manage the terminal for an initial 20-year term.

“We are honoured to have been selected by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority for this prestigious project,” said Nick Cole, CEO of daa International. “Washington Dulles International Airport plays a vital role in connecting the United States with the world, and we look forward to bringing our international airport experience and operational expertise to the delivery of a VIP facility that reflects the airport’s global standing.”
