Manchester Airport has become the first UK airport to offer passengers the opportunity to pre-book a free 15-minute security slot, as part of a new trial.

ACI World has issued new best practice guidance on airport security screening during the COVID-19 pandemic to help protect screeners, passengers and staff.

The expanded security checkpoints will accommodate more screening lanes, while offering travellers a more relaxing, easier-to-navigate security experience.

The Transportation Security Administration will lead tours and briefings, and showcase the TSA Innovation Task Force’s latest initiatives. 

The 3D equipment is expected to end the need for passengers to remove their liquids and laptops from cabin baggage when passing through security.

A trial programme will begin in Terminal 2 in partnership with Southwest Airlines, and rollout is expected to start within the next six months.
