Alaska Airlines will introduce its Airport of the Future check-in process as part of its transfer to LAX Terminal 6 later this year.

The introduction of the Airport of the Future check-in process and modernised gate facilities as part of Alaska Airlines’ transfer from Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 3 to Terminal 6 is aimed at providing an enhanced passenger experience.

The airline will make the move in late 2011 ahead of starting operations there in Spring 2012.

The move will provide a single terminal operation for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and will provide more convenient access to US Customs and Immigration checkpoints, as well as easier access to codeshare partner Delta Air Lines.

Karen Gruen, Alaska Airlines’ Managing Director of Corporate Real Estate, said: “Our modern Airport of the Future facility will improve efficiency and greatly enhance our customers’ experience at LAX. And our new location at Terminal 6 will provide faster and more convenient connections for our customers on Mexico flights and for those arriving or departing on codeshare flights served by our partner, Delta Air Lines.”

The renovation will also see the introduction of a new Board Room lounge, central service counter, spacious passenger waiting area and new state-of-the-art gate information displays.

More information can be found on the Alaska Airlines website.
