Lufthansa launches ‘test, drop & fly’ drive-through service

Passengers with Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines departing from FRA will be able to book a drive-through COVID-19 PCR test, as well as a baggage check-in service between 23 and 2 hours before departure.

Lufthansa has partnered with Fraport and CENTOGENE to introduce a new drive-through COVID-19 test service, one year after the three partners opened the first and largest airport test centre in Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Passengers with Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines departing from FRA will be able to book a drive-through COVID-19 PCR test, as well as a baggage check-in service between 23 and 2 hours before departure. Passengers can book their appointment online and then simply drive through the test centre, where they will need to provide a throat swab with the option to drop off their bags free of charge. The tests are carried out in the customer’s vehicle for added convenience.

Björn Becker, Head of Restart Customer, Lufthansa Group, commented: “One year after we opened the first and largest test centre in Frankfurt, we are now opening our innovative combined test and bag drop drive through. We are proud to be able to offer our guest this convenient service, especially for touristic routes in the upcoming summer holidays, this is one more service to take away stress and hassle from our guests.”
