FTE BIWG update: successful SIN meeting, major baggage imaging POC, plus focus on robotics & automation


The FTE Baggage Innovation Working Group (BIWG) continues to go from strength-to-strength, with participation growing exponentially to over 100 members. Organisations that have joined the FTE BIWG in recent months include Isavia, TAP Air Portugal, Harry Reid International Airport, Philippine Airlines, Lufthansa, flydubai, Egyptair, Bob – The Bag Tracking Company, Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corporation, and more. In this video interview, Darin Juby, Head of Baggage Transformation, Future Travel Experience, shares an update on Proof of Concepts being facilitated by the FTE BIWG, reflects on last month’s successful in-person meeting in Singapore during FTE APEX Asia Expo 2023, and looks ahead to plans and key focus areas for 2024. “In 2024, we’ll be continuing with our baggage imaging POC involving three Canadian airports – Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver – and the results will be ready in Q2,” Juby explains. “Robotics and automation are also definitely a big focus next year.”
