The feature allows Malaysia Airlines passengers to easily make a report, track and monitor the recovery process of their lost luggage via their personal devices.
The Customer Baggage Notification alerts passengers of the status of their checked bags and offers proactive support if luggage has been mishandled.
According to the SITA Baggage Report 2017, the rate of mishandled bags in 2016 was 5.73 per thousand passengers – a 12.25% reduction on 2015.
The aircraft manufacturer has made a next-generation step in baggage technology with the unveiling of its innovative ‘smart’ luggage prototype, which features an embedded RFID chip that can be tracked using the ‘Find my Bag’ function of the bag’s accompanying iPhone app.
