Virgin Atlantic has this week revealed the result of a collaborative project with Microsoft, which enables the airline to showcase its end-to-end premium travel experience via an immersive app.

“Ida” – the Interactive Digital Adventure app – can run across any Windows 10 device and even includes the ability for a prospective customer to take an immersive tour of the Upper Class experience through a tablet- or phone-powered third-party virtual reality headset.

Reuben Arnold, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Customer Experience at Virgin Atlantic, explained: “We needed a way to showcase our ultimate travel experience so we teamed up with Microsoft to create an app that showcases the advantages that we can provide to our business travellers.

“Using Windows 10, Microsoft created Ida, our Interactive Digital Adventure app, which will really help our customers understand what it feels like to travel with Virgin Atlantic.”

Ida will now be used by Virgin Atlantic’s sales team to engage with business customers and business travellers outside of traditional marketing and sales tactics. The Ida experience starts by checking in at the airport, moves through the Clubhouse at London Heathrow and takes you through what happens on the aircraft, either at the bar or in your seat, and then ends with you waking up refreshed and ready to land.
