Next-generation check-in opens at FRA for Lufthansa Group passengers delivering “efficient travel experience”

Lufthansa Group passengers at Frankfurt Airport can now use 21 state-of-the-art check-in counters and automated bag drop in Terminal 1, delivering “a convenient, modern and efficient travel experience”.

Lufthansa Group passengers at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) can now use 21 state-of-the-art check-in counters and automated bag drop in Concourses A and B of Terminal 1.

Travellers are able to deposit their baggage faster and in a more convenient way, even outside regular check-in hours. They still have the option to drop-off their bags with Lufthansa staff. The new counters also include the technical components required for biometric check-in processes that may be used in the future.

“The new check-in counters provide passengers at FRA with a convenient, modern and efficient travel experience, right from their first stop inside the terminal,” said Pierre Dominique Prümm, Executive Director Aviation and Infrastructure, Fraport AG. “Using state-of-the-art technology optimises the baggage drop-off process. My special thanks goes to the entire team who implemented this challenging project in record time. We’re always working with all of our partners to ensure that the pleasant journey for all passengers starts right here at Frankfurt Airport.”

Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer, Lufthansa Airlines, commented: “We both want to grow – in the medium and long term. And that is only possible with a smoothly functioning infrastructure. Passengers place the same demands on airport companies and airlines during their journey: the right information at exactly the right time. The choice between relying on digitisation or preferring to be helped by staff. Short walking distances and short waiting times. After all, the journey begins on the ground. And as of now, we are better positioned here in Frankfurt with the new bag drop counters.”

Fraport will also be installing the new generation of bag-drop counters in additional areas of the terminal in the future.
