MIA opens North America’s first Wait n’ Rest sleep rooms to enhance passenger comfort and convenience

Miami International Airport has opened North America’s first Wait n’ Rest sleep rooms, offering travellers private suites, luxury bedding, showers, in-room entertainment and refreshments to rest, recharge or work between flights.

Summary:

  • Miami International Airport introduces Wait n’ Rest luxury sleep rooms, offering travellers private suites, hotel-level amenities, and hourly rates of up to eight hours.
  • The 15-room facility in Concourse D includes beds, showers, in-room entertainment, and curated snacks, with a second location planned for Concourse H this summer.
  • The concept provides a premium rest experience, combining comfort, privacy, and technology-driven convenience for layovers, long journeys, or focused work between flights.

Miami International Airport (MIA) – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – has welcomed the opening of the first Wait n’ Rest sleep rooms in North America and only the second location worldwide.

The 15 Wait n’ Rest luxury sleep rooms inside MIA’s Concourse D can occupy one to four guests and include luxury hotel-level bedding and linen, in-room touchscreen entertainment and information monitors, and access to private showers and bathrooms, fresh towels, and a curated selection of snacks and beverages – all at an hourly rate up to eight hours. A second MIA location in Concourse H is scheduled to open this summer.

“Thanks to Wait n’ Rest, finding a comfortable, convenient place to get refreshed, recharged, and rejuvenated while travelling through MIA just got much easier,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “I am proud to welcome the first Wait n’ Rest location in North America to Miami-Dade County, and I look forward to seeing their high-demand service provide rest and relaxation to our visitors from around the world.”

The Wait n’ Rest concept allows travellers to step away from the airport crowds and activity, rest peacefully and comfortably just minutes from their gate, and experience a new level of comfort while navigating long journeys, layovers, or demanding schedules. Each suite is designed to deliver a premium rest experience, combining quiet luxury aesthetics, thoughtful design, and technology-driven convenience. The space is equally suited for travellers seeking recovery and sleep, as well as professionals needing a private environment for meetings or focused work between flights.

Every aspect of the experience is powered by technology. From in-room touchscreens, guests can control their environment and order food and beverage products directly to their suite, creating a seamless self-guided stay tailored to modern travel habits.

“Airports are evolving from transit spaces into lifestyle environments,” said Founder and CEO of Wait n’ Rest Duilio Sanguineti. “Travellers today want more than efficiency. They want comfort, privacy, and experiences that feel intentional. Miami-Dade County is leading this new era, and we are proud to be part of that transformation.”
