Delta Air Lines completes free inflight WiFi rollout across Asia-Pacific and global network

Delta has completed its global free WiFi rollout, extending connectivity to Asia-Pacific routes and enabling SkyMiles members in all cabins to message, browse and stream on personal devices across its international network.

Summary:

  • Delta Air Lines has completed the global rollout of free onboard WiFi presented by T-Mobile, extending connectivity to Asia-Pacific routes and closing the final coverage gap across its international network.
  • SkyMiles members travelling in all cabins can now access onboard WiFi on flights to and from the Asia-Pacific region, enabling them to message, email, browse, share photos and stream videos on their personal devices.
  • With nearly 1,300 WiFi-equipped aircraft and additional satellite capacity coming online across the Americas, Delta is strengthening network capacity to support growing demand and deliver a more consistent inflight connectivity experience worldwide.

With nearly 1,300 WiFi-equipped aircraft and the Pacific now connected, Delta customers can enjoy free global Wi-Fi presented by T-Mobile across the airline’s full international network. SkyMiles Members travelling to and from the Asia-Pacific region can now access Delta’s onboard connectivity, closing the last coverage gap and making the connected travel experience more available across Delta’s global network.

For customers working across time zones, staying in touch with colleagues, family or simply keeping up with what matters most to them, onboard connectivity has become an increasingly important part of the travel experience. With free global WiFi now available across Asia-Pacific routes, SkyMiles Members in all cabins can stay connected on some of Delta’s longest flights. Once boarding doors close, customers can easily connect on one or more devices to message, email, browse, scroll, share photos and more, including streaming videos on their own devices, in their own languages.

“We know how important connectivity is for travellers who want to stay connected wherever they fly, whether you’re travelling for business, reconnecting with family or setting out on a long-awaited trip,” said Ranjan Goswami, Chief Marketing and Product Officer, Delta Air Lines. “Bringing free global WiFi across our international network is an important milestone in making the Delta experience more consistent and connected, especially on some of our longest journeys.”

Jeff Moomaw, Vice President – Asia Pacific, Delta Air Lines, commented: “Completing Delta’s global WiFi coverage is a major and meaningful milestone for our customers, especially as we grow to meet increased demand for travel across the Asia-Pacific region. Together with our partners, we’re making it easier for customers to stay connected as they travel across the Pacific and beyond.”

The milestone also comes as new satellite capacity enters service across the Americas, which will further strengthen network capacity and support growing demand for reliable connectivity. Together with service expansion across Asia-Pacific, that added capacity helps support Delta’s broader goal of making onboard WiFi feel more consistent wherever customers fly.
