There was plenty of consumer travel tech on show at the Tax Free World Association’s (TFWA) World Exhibition & Conference 2026 in Cannes, but among all the great accessories Future Travel Experience’s vote for the most innovative was not obvious. J.Rose is a producer of Italian gin in collectable bottles for travel retail, featuring handcrafted labels by great artists, enriched with Carrara marble powder and Roman travertine celebrating the beauty of Italian materials. The result is a product designed specifically for the world of luxury gifting in the specific duty free and travel retail environment, where presentation and emotional impact are just as important as the spirit itself. But besides these great cultural aspects, J.Rose has embraced the connected traveller by inserting an NFC tag in each bottle, allowing the purchaser to uniquely personalise the gift by creating a video message which will be played back by the lucky recipient when they wave their own smartphone against the bottle – both smart and delicious. (FTE says: Always drink responsibly.)
