JFKIAT announces opening of Eataly at JFK T4, expanding global culinary experience for passengers

JFK Airport’s Terminal 4 has welcomed Eataly, bringing Italian cuisine and culture to its evolving dining offer as JFKIAT and HMSHost continue to enhance the passenger experience with diverse, authentic food and beverage concepts.

Summary:

  • JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT) has opened Eataly, the Italian restaurant and marketplace brand, at Terminal 4 of New York’s JFK Airport, as part of its partnership with HMSHost to expand the terminal’s food and beverage offering.
  • The new dining destination brings Italian cuisine, culture and hospitality to T4’s Manhattan-themed zone, joining a growing line-up of local and diverse food and beverage brands.
  • The opening supports JFKIAT’s ongoing terminal transformation, focused on elevating the passenger experience through authentic culinary concepts that reflect New York City’s cultural diversity and global appeal.

JFKIAT (a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub) – the operator of Terminal 4 at JFK Airport – has announced the opening of Eataly, the globally recognised Italian restaurant and marketplace brand. The opening is part of JFKIAT’s partnership with the HMSHost-led joint venture announced last year, to introduce a varied selection of local and diverse food & beverage businesses into T4.

The new Eataly culinary addition reflects the latest milestone in T4’s ongoing transformation, as JFKIAT continues to reimagine the terminal’s commercial programme with a focus on creating a world-class passenger experience that reflects the cultural diversity, innovation, and energy of New York City. As part of the transformation, JFKIAT has woven elements of each NYC borough throughout T4, creating different zones that each represents a borough or region for passengers to authentically experience. Eataly, a New York City staple, sits in the terminal’s Manhattan region and joins an expanding line-up, including Brooklyn Tea & Market, FIELDTRIP, Bessou, Chopt, Dos Toros, and Hunt & Fish Club.

“The arrival of Eataly marks another exciting step forward in our continued efforts to enhance the culinary and passenger experience at T4,” said Roel Huinink, Chief Executive Officer, JFKIAT. “As we continue to shape the future of our terminal, we remain committed to introducing concepts that offer passengers meaningful opportunities to discover new flavours, cultures, and experiences. Eataly brings the traditions, quality, and hospitality of Italy to T4, adding another layer to the diverse and dynamic experience we strive to create for travellers from around the world.”

Anthony Alessi, Vice President of Business Development, HMSHost, commented: “At HMSHost, we are passionate about transforming travel through exceptional dining experiences, and the opening of Eataly at JFK Terminal 4 represents exactly that vision. As one of New York City’s most celebrated culinary destinations, Eataly brings an authentic sense of place, world-class Italian cuisine, and genuine hospitality to travellers. Together with JFKIAT and our partners, we are proud to continue elevating Terminal 4’s food and beverage programme with concepts that reflect the energy, diversity, and global appeal of New York while creating memorable moments throughout the passenger journey.”

Eataly’s opening supports JFKIAT’s vision of creating a destination where travellers can discover the rich range of culture, flavours, and hospitality of New York City throughout their journey. Through the collaboration with HMSHost, JFKIAT continues to enhance the passenger experience at T4 by welcoming brands that offer authentic, high-quality dining experiences.

“We are thrilled to introduce our Eataly experience to T4 at JFK – one of the world’s great gateways – closing out an important milestone in our brand’s expansion to the travel space in North America,” said Simone Tosato, Global Head of Franchising, Eataly. “From the start, Eataly has been rooted in the belief that food is a powerful way to connect people, with Italian culture and tradition at our heart. The new location at JFK allows us to bring this mission to life within a dynamic airport environment, offering a curated guest experience that underlines the quality, craftsmanship, and hospitality that can be found across the peninsula of Italy. Thank you to JFKIAT, HMSHost, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for your incredible partnership and support throughout the project – we were honoured to work together on this endeavour.”

Teresa Rizzuto, General Manager, John F. Kennedy International Airport, added: “Eataly is an iconic New York City destination, and we are excited to bring this beloved experience to travelers at JFK Terminal 4. Eataly, which made its North American airport debut at JFK, provides passengers with another opportunity to experience the city’s vibrant culinary culture as they travel through our airport. The addition of Eataly to Terminal 4’s commercial programme advances the Port Authority’s goal of creating a world class passenger experience at a new JFK International Airport.”
