A new 3D map of Finavia’s Helsinki Airport has been released to support and enhance the passenger experience in the terminal. The map provides helpful information and guidance for navigating the airport. It shows the route to a desired shop or café, or directly to the user’s flight departure gate.
“The terminal at Helsinki Airport has been designed to make moving through it as easy and seamless as possible,” said Hanna Hämäläinen, Director of Passenger Services, Helsinki Airport, Finavia. “The airport’s new map supports the discoverability of services and provides additional guidance for navigating the terminal. We hope the new map will further enhance the excellent passenger experience at Helsinki Airport.”
The new airport map offers a clearer visual floor plan and introduces new navigation features. It is a 3D model that users can easily rotate and zoom as needed.
A key new feature is the ability to navigate from one point to another within the terminal: the user selects a starting point and a destination, and the desired route is drawn on the map. The map also outlines the steps of the route and provides an estimate of the distance and time required. In the search window, users can activate the option ‘Avoid stairs and escalators’, which prioritises an accessible route.
Flight information is also integrated into the map to assist passengers. Users can search for the correct departure gate using their flight number or destination. The map also provides information about services along the route and near the gate, including their opening hours. The search function can also be used to find airport services, such as shops or restaurants, and display a route to them.
The new map is available on Finavia’s website and can be used on both computers and mobile devices. QR codes displayed on screens throughout the Helsinki Airport terminal also direct users to the new map while at the airport.
