Alaska Airlines unveils bold lounge expansion plans in San Diego with “seamless, elegant” spaces

Alaska Airlines – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – is enhancing its lounge network with expansive, modern spaces designed to redefine how guests relax before take-off. Its latest investment is coming to San Diego – a key, growing hub for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.

“Our lounges are more than just a place for guests to wait for their next flight,” said Todd Traynor-Corey, Vice President of Guest Products and Experience, Alaska Airlines. “They’re an extension of our signature hospitality and comfort that our guests experience each time they fly with us. With our new San Diego Lounge on the horizon, we’re shaping the future of travel with spaces designed to make travel feel seamless, elevated and welcoming.”

As part of a multi-billion-dollar investment in infrastructure across the network to provide a remarkable travel experience, the Alaska Lounge in San Diego will be one of the largest lounges offered by any carrier at the airport. Spanning over 13,000 square feet, Alaska Airlines is designing the lounge to reflect San Diego’s vibrant local culture. The premium space will bring the best of its lounges into a modern oasis – from its Signature Loungers for the ultimate comfort, private and quiet work areas, locally inspired refreshments and fresh local bites, a full bar featuring signature cocktails, and a barista station for handcrafted espresso beverages. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027.

“We are very pleased to see Alaska continue to grow at SAN,” said Kimberly Becker, President and CEO, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. “Providing an exceptional customer experience at our airport is at the heart of our purpose. Alaska’s new lounge will offer travellers an enhanced option for dining and relaxing while experiencing all that our airport offers.”
