Toronto Pearson Airport – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible experience for all travellers. As part of these efforts, it has announced a partnership with Aira Tech Corp to pilot the mobile app Aira ASL for passengers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Aira ASL provides on-demand American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services, and it has been made free to use while at Toronto Pearson. Through the app, travellers can instantly access a professional interpreter without needing to schedule in advance.
This new accessibility service allows passengers to communicate seamlessly with airport staff, empowering them to navigate the airport independently and confidently.
The pilot phase will last until 31 December 2025, as Toronto Pearson evaluates passengers’ experience with the app.
