ACI World has issued new best practice guidance on airport security screening during the COVID-19 pandemic to help protect screeners, passengers and staff.
The expanded security checkpoints will accommodate more screening lanes, while offering travellers a more relaxing, easier-to-navigate security experience.
The Transportation Security Administration will lead tours and briefings, and showcase the TSA Innovation Task Force’s latest initiatives.
The 3D equipment is expected to end the need for passengers to remove their liquids and laptops from cabin baggage when passing through security.
A trial programme will begin in Terminal 2 in partnership with Southwest Airlines, and rollout is expected to start within the next six months.
FTE speaks to IATA’s Vinoop Goel about the trials of Smart Security, the reaction from passengers and the next steps for the project.
The investment includes the introduction of the latest x-ray sortation operation for baggage screening and the installation of more self-service kiosks.
Trials of the new CATSA Plus screening lane have begun at Montréal-Trudeau Airport, as the authority attempts to enhance security and passenger experience.
