REDEFINING THE END-TO-END PASSENGER EXPERIENCE AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
At FTE Global 2023, the FTE “Next Generation Aviation Security” Think Tank discussed their efforts towards designing a new model of aviation security leveraging innovative technologies and approaches.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Pangiam are commencing the next-stage trials of Project DARTMOUTH, which is intended to transform airport security screening using AI to enhance inspection of carry-on bags.
Leeds Bradford Airport is installing next-generation security equipment, meaning passengers will no longer need to remove items from their cabin baggage. It will be in full operation by February 2024.

JFKIAT – the operator of Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport – is deploying Synect’s ReadySeeGo® solution to optimise passenger flow, capacity and automation at the terminal’s security checkpoints.
Heathrow Timeslot is a free service which will give passengers a designated time and entry point to the security search area.
Passengers simply walk through the scanner at a normal pace without stopping. The test and evaluation phase is set to last up to six months.

The TSA has installed two state-of-the-art CT scanners at West Virginia Yeager Airport, streamlining the security experience as travellers will no longer need to remove laptops and liquids from hand baggage.
Oakland International Airport has completed its $11 million Terminal 2 Security Exit Project. The exit upgrade increases security at the airport and features new art that will welcome passengers to Oakland.

New CT security scanners are being put into operation in Munich Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, meaning passengers will no longer have to unpack their laptops and liquids for “fast processing and convenience”.
Birmingham Airport is installing Computed Tomography (CT) X-ray scanners as part of a £20 million security screening upgrade. The technology will enable passengers to leave liquids and electronics in hand baggage from June 2024.
Hamburg Airport has introduced a new service, Slot & Fly, enabling travellers to reserve a 15-minute timeslot to access the security checkpoint. The service will streamline the security process for passengers.
