The 3D equipment is expected to end the need for passengers to remove their liquids and laptops from cabin baggage when passing through security.
A computed tomography (CT) scanner is now available at the airport, providing improved explosives detection capabilities at a TSA checkpoint.
The walk-through scanner uses space technology to image human body heat and has the potential to reduce queues as it screens people on the move.
