Construction has begun on Singapore Airlines’ (a Headline Partner of APEX FTE EXPO Asia, Singapore, 18-19 November 2026) brand-new SilverKris Lounge at Melbourne Airport, set to elevate the premium traveller experience as the airline celebrates 55 years of flying to Melbourne.
Relocating to the third floor of the International Terminal (Terminal 2), adjacent to Gates 10 and 11, the new SilverKris Lounge will offer a 30% larger footprint, natural light and panoramic views across the airfield when it opens later this year.
The new lounge will draw design inspiration from the airline’s flagship SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport, combining refined finishes and thoughtful design to create a premium space where travellers can work, relax or rest before departure.
“Singapore Airlines premium travellers will have one of the best lounge seats in the house, complete with sweeping airfield views and an experience befitting of the airline’s premium inflight product and service,” said Jim Parashos, Chief of Aviation, Melbourne Airport. “The new lounge along with the recent resumption of flagship A380 services into Melbourne reflects the confidence Singapore Airlines has in the Victorian market. This upgrade forms part of Melbourne Airport’s $4.5 billion international terminal expansion which will provide airlines, like Singapore Airlines, with the necessary infrastructure to expand operations here in Melbourne.”
Mr. Foo Chai Woo, Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Singapore Airlines, commented: “Since our first flight from Singapore to Melbourne in 1971, we have invested in and grown our operations, with five daily flights now operating between the Lion City and Victoria’s capital. The new lounge location and refreshed design will elevate the experience for our customers with more space, expanded dining options, improved amenities, natural sunlight, and a view of the runway, where customers can watch aircraft take off and land. Our current lounge will remain open throughout the works to minimise disruption to our customers, before we transition to the new, bespoke space.”
Lorie Argus, CEO, Melbourne Airport, said: “The development of a new airline lounge within our international terminal concourse comes at an exciting time, following the announcement of our $4.5 billion investment to transform the international terminal and support growing demand for international travel through Melbourne Airport. At the front of the airport, we’re also in the final stages of delivering the new Terminal 1, 2 and 3 Transport Hub, with expanded Pick Up and Drop Off facilities and new access roads that will reshape how travellers arrive at and move through the airport.”
