REDEFINING THE END-TO-END PASSENGER EXPERIENCE AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
As part of the ongoing Simplifying the Business (StB) initiative, the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Fast Travel programme is rapidly progressing, attracting global support from airlines, airports and passengers alike. Mobile Connections for Travelers
IATA has announced a string of airport trials, which will give passengers new ways to check-in. With an emphasis on baggage self-tagging, mobile check-in and common use kiosks, the ‘fast travel’ initiative is expected to benefit both the industry and passengers. Louise Driscoll reports.
Common baggage and fast drop initiatives have the potential to provide higher efficiency and throughput due to economies of scale and better use of airport real estate. Japan Airlines (JAL) participated in evaluation testing of ‘e-airport procedures: SPT Trial 2007’, which was implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation (MLIT) and Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
